You cant shoot “warning shots”. That’s illegal. You shoot to stop the threat. Sometimes you do need 6 bullets. Good job to those cops for keeping the staff safe. Wait till BLM protesters come in and hurt the staff then they’ll be crying that they wish they had armed guards

I’m tired of this “mentally ill” defense being used against cops. Killers aren’t mentally sane. Just because they’re deemed “mentally ill” doesn’t make them any less dangerous

What a bunch of idiots. Why wouldn't you want an armed deputy in a hospital? As a fellow healthcare professional I disagree with the rally. Time and time again Ive witnessed medical staff being attacked by belligerent wackos. Im glad the deputy was there to intervene!

Injecting a tranquilizer is better than shooting bullets at them - that's for sure. The hospital staff needs to have standardized doses on hand for when situations like this get out of control. I've been in the ER before with screaming psych patients, and the doctors/ nurses inject them with a medication to calm them down/ make them fall asleep. Regarding the dosage: I assume part of it is guesswork since no one knows what the patient is on when they first come in, and the patient can't tell you if they are in the middle of an episode

You cant just "sedate" someone it doesn't work that way. Sedating someone too much can kill them.

sedation pt isn't like blow darting an animal. It's critical to ensure the dosage and delivery is correct. plus people who have mania episodes, whether from neurological or chemical, will have no regards themselves or others.

Los Angeles used to be a great city. A great city! At that time, the mayor was the late Tom Bradley. After Bradley, the city has gone completely downhill. With the plethora of mentally-ill wackos in the LA area, it’s probably too late. Of course, it’s run top to bottom by democrats.

The funny thing is it was a Republican president (Reagan) who cut funding for mental institutions in the first place and put the load on communities instead. Democrats mismanaged an already deteriorating situation.

Police take those in custody who need medical attention to the hospital first, then to the station to book. If that is the case, take off handcuffs and drop them off and leave. I am tired of cops honoring their oaths to serve and protect wasted on the ungrateful. All hospitals can hire security officers, let them protect and serve. Defund the police then why not let law enforcement defund the hospital. Drug addicts have been to every ER in the country attempting to steal or demand drugs. Criminals leave crimes in need of medical treatment go to the ER. Wives and mothers abused go to the ER with the abuser present. Cops stand guard over dangerous (arrested) patients. Yeah make the Hospital and ER a sanctuary no cop zone. That is a brilliant idea. "we want our patients to feel safe" "we are afraid patients won't come for treatment" guess this hospital only serves criminals. The last ER I went to had police officers and a metal detector at the door. I would not have it any other way. I work, pay taxes, mind my own business, have private health insurance, served my country, and volunteer for charity....and now my safety is to be compromised because of a crazed lunatic. I hope they ban cops entirely from this hospital. Because the first time something happens (drug addict with a gun demanding drugs) who they going to call...hopefully the Ghost Busters and not the police. I can't wait until the gangs find out their ER is a no cop zone. Defund the police advocates should by law be made to wear a button proclaiming their rejection of cops. Such an action showing dedication to "defund the police" would be applauded and worn as a badge of honor to a true American because, this way more resources of the department can be allocated to those who need and desire safety because they are defenseless, (elderly, handicapped, children etc.) or can not afford to hire private security to protect their property and families. I can do both but always preferred cops shooting criminals instead of civilians. But the hell do I know, hospitals are stuffed with a lot of degrees and we all know that education is how you determine if a person is good or bad ...and a democrat.

sounds like a justified shooting. if doctors don't want police in hospitals, they should have handled the mentally ill patient on their own.
